Layer It On

I find layers to be awe-inspiring. Okay, perhaps I wouldn’t really use such a strong adjective, but really I do love them. This love mainly stems from the fact that I couldn’t be bothered to join a gym all year, and well, when you live on a college campus the stress eating and ease of access to junk food simply pours the pounds on ‘ya.

So to be honest, I like layers not only because they create chic-as-hell silhouettes but also because they serve my flab-hiding needs well. Enter Gemma Degara. One day while at my internship my boss makes a rather excited noise and motions me to her monitor. What I see is this:

I’m excited to say that she plans on carrying them soon, and that I couldn’t be more excited. Crazy cuts and draping? Model randomly standing on a wooden box in a barn? Awesome. More so awesome for the clothing design, but whatever :)

Since then I’ve been doing a little sleuthing and peeking into GD’s past collections. I think it's safe to announce that she is now my newest favorite and most coveted designer. I say this because right now I want every piece I see in her Dripbook. The Barcelona-raised Gemma Degara has been designing since 2003. Her creations have a 180˚ quality about them; you can wear them whichever way you see fit, as long you like how it looks (any side can be the front). I’m definitely all for wearing the same clothing six different ways, especially if they have this much structure and impeccable design.

Soak it in! She has her own Etsy store, so I’m going to try to get my hands on this dress, wish me luck!

Cool in my Keffiyeh

Out for my last day of break before school starts over again. The indecisive weather recently has me layering like crazy (and subsequently looking disheveled and in great need of a shower and nap by mid-afternoon when then weather reaches the high 80s). Nothing too exciting today, just finishing up some errands and hanging out with parents before I’m off to uni again.

Dress, Erin Fetherston for Target. Blue Tank, Alexander Wang. Studded Vest, Zara. Keffiyeh, Ebay. Bag, Gryson. Shoes, Topshop. Ring, Forever21.

Also! I bought this crazy scarf a couple of days ago for my birthday. It's insane, but looks pretty cool, so I'm looking forward to styling it.

What is the Awesomely Delicious?

After a year of following various online publications and blogs, I have finally decided to start my own. This was after much personal dispute, I'll have you know. There are so many personal fashion blogs out there these days (aside from the extremely popular ones like Susie Lau's Style Bubble); I'm sure my blog will really only reach perhaps 0.0001% of the internet's viewers, but I have decided that since there are very fashion bloggers who try to (and can) exist beyond the coasts, I figure someone out there will be able to relate to the little tidbits and comments I'll have to offer. Essentially this blog will be a place for me to muse on all things fashion: my inspirations, my outfits, my random of-the-moment thoughts (although sometimes there will be rants--in Texas there is much to rant about, trust me).
